Nuthatch

We have been seeing so many adorable little Nuthatches in our backyard.  I moved our bird feeder out back for a few reasons, but was worried the birds wouldn't use it since they didn't know where their food went.  The birds didn't find the feeder for a week or so, but this weekend a particular little nut hatch found it and ate quite a plethora of seeds!

I couldn't take a picture of the bird, as it would turn out as a speck on my camera, but below is the type of bird we kept seeing this weekend.

Pizza!!

Homemade pizza! Yum!  We made everything except the cheese.  We'll get there eventually! :)

(We were also watching some Sherlock.  Scary!)

Mammatus Clouds

Saw these Mammatus clouds as we were getting ready for our run, and we decided to not run! It looked a little too uncertain weather wise outside.  No interesting weather ended up happening, but it was cool to see these clouds up here in Los Alamos!  Not too common!

Birthday Crown Scramble

As a teacher of 7 year-olds (soon to be 8 year-olds), there is nothing quite like going to your store of birthday crowns and realizing, "Oh, I have one left, and I have five birthdays in the month of September alone!"  Needless to say, I have hastily gone on Amazon, bought a new class set of crowns, and am now prepared for all the birthdays this year will bring me.  Whew! ;)

Sanitizing Wipes

This blog is getting very "teachery," and will probably continue to be so until the end of May.

I want to take a moment to praise the wonderful creation of Clorox Sanitizing Wipes.  I love the moment in my classroom after all my students have organized their desks and sanitized them with cleaning wipes. Everything looks so good and smells so clean.  Makes this teacher a happy lady!

GRE Testing Date

Cool Tangram Creation

Two of my students made quite the epic tangram creation.  And just fyi: The person in the middle is the kind, the one of the right the warlord, and the one on the left the wargog (who by the way, is more powerful than the warlord.)  ;)

Chex Mix, Coffee, Christmas Music?

Too early for Christmas music? I think not!  Enjoying the cooler morning while listening to Christmas music, making sticky buns, eating Chex Mix, and drinking coffee. I don't think mornings get much better than that! :)

Homerun Pizza

Wish I had my camera with me when we had the pizza tonight!  We picked up some pizza and ate it by the lake as the sky was sprinkling a bit of rain.  It was so pretty!!

Apparently I still love owls!  Two drawings from two students of owls for me because they think I love owls. (Which I do! But I love owls even more because of how much my students think I love them.  It's an ever fulfilling prophesy!) :)

The word of the week: Study. Nathan's taking the GRE in a few weeks and he's prepping by an awful lot of studying.  Go Nathan Go!!

I was worried that after a long summer away, my class garden would be looking terrible, but come to find out, it's amazing!! I need to find out who has been taking care of it over the summer, because clearly someone has been taking care of all the classroom gardens.

Fields

The fields around town are looking beautiful!  I love the sunflowers popping up all over the place, so picturesque!  (Though it is quite hard to pick them out, there are actually quite a few sunflowers in this picture.)
